Thank you for your patience and understanding. :)

I was diagnosed with Acute Myocytic Leukemia at age 12 in 1987. I had a 30-40% chance to live. During that time of treatment, I received a blood transfusion, blood that carried the Hepatitis C virus. Doctors can't explain why it took over 10 years to discover I had Hep C. They concluded that the side effects of the chemotherapy likely masked the onset of Hep C, which carried its own set of effects.

I went on to finish the chemotherapy treatment for leukemia in 1988. Little did I know I was already host to another disease. It wasn't until 11 years later that I was checked for Hep C and the results were positive. The doctor then said that the treatment available has a low probability of being effective on me. He advised against it since I wasn't sick enough to take the risk.

Fast forward to 2013. I went in for my "decade" checkup, expecting to schedule a biopsy, receive satisfactory results, and continue living another 10 years as host to this Hep C silent liver killer. Instead, the doctor said that there is treatment available now that has a high probability of being effective on me. So...the journey began.
